Aug. 19th, 2004 12:25 amAfter a long time, Tonks realizes that 'Skandra isn't crying any longer, and that her own tears have slowed to a stop. She still feels the younger girl's hands, convulsively fisting in her shirt, but her whimpering has subsided. Heavily, Tonks pushes them both into an upright position.
"'Skandra? Can you move?"
Kassandra's eyes are glassy, half-closed. A soft moan escapes her lips.
Sighing, Tonks lifts her wand. "Mobilicorpus." 'Skandra's body floats a few inches off the bench, and with a flick of Tonks' wand, starts towards the staff quarters.
Tonks stumbles down the darkened hallway after her, opening the door to Sirius' room with a quick Alohomora. She sees her cousin's form sprawled on the bed, his eyes still bandaged, and tries not to wake him as she situates 'Skandra alongside him. Kassandra's eyes flutter shut, finally, as she molds herself to Sirius. Sirius, in his sleep, immediately curls an arm around her waist.
She can't even bring herself to smile at that.
Instead, her feet carry her outside, where the chilly night air stings her cheeks. Crowley isn't there.
She didn't really expect him to be.
The sky is clear, achingly so. Everywhere she looks, a million points of light wink back at her, twinkling madly as though everything was the same as ever.
Tonks wonders how many stars lie between this place and Aziraphale. How many of those wondrous creations keep things from being Right.
She turns her back on the stars.
"Fuck you."
