*she smiles, taking his hand and heading for Sunny's room*

*She opens the door silently, and they slip in.

Sunny's curled up in her crib, brow a little furrowed in sleep. Bernard bends over, one fingertip lightly skimming the curve of her cheek, and she shifts, whimpering a little.*

She's having a bad dream, I think.

From:

*Nymphadora bites her lip and reaches down to gently rub Sunny's back.*

Wish we knew what to do.

From:

In Sunny-speak, what she's saying might make sense. And might be about fire and cages.

Dora wouldn't understand it.

From:

*Bernard's eyes go big, and he bites his lip painfully. His hands twitch towards her automatically, but he pauses.

He'd always heard that you should let kids sleep through nightmares. But wouldn't it be better for her to wkae up from this?*

What? What is it?

From:

And she wakes up.

Eyes are big and suddenly open as she clutches at her blanket.

Sunny doesn't say anything, just stares.

*To Nymphadora*

She's talking in her sleep. The fire--

*Then she wakes. Bernard crouches down to look her in the eyes, worried.*

Hey, munchkin. Bad dream, huh?

From:

Sunny stares more, before throwing herself at Ber'd. This isn't hugging. This is clinging.

From:

Oof.

*He picks her up, rubbing her back, and looks over at Nymphadora as he speaks.*

Hey, you're all right. We've got you.

From:

*Nymphadora takes a step closer, running a hand over Sunny's hair.*

'S okay, sweetheart.

From:

"No!" And that word is half-sobbed. "Bad!" More clinging. She might not ever let go.

From:

*Unconsciously, he's started to rock her back and forth a little.*

We know it was bad. I heard.

If you feel like crying, that's okay.

From:

*She looks on, rather helplessly, Jemma clutched tightly in one hand.*

From:

Not quite crying so much as whimpering again and holding tightly to his shirt. "Bad."

From:

*He nods, his throat tight, and notices Jemma in Nymphadora's hands. He smiles a little.*

Why don't we go sit in the living room, where it's lighter? We'll bring Jemma and-- *He gets her blanket out of the crib.* --your blanket, and we'll sit up as long as you want.

*He looks to Nymphadora for confirmation that this is a Good Plan.*

*She nods, going out ahead of them into the kitchen to fetch a sipper of milk for Sunny.

When she walks out into the living room, Bernard is settling Sunny on his lap. Nymphadora walks over and sits next to them, tucking the blanket around her.*

That a bit better, Sunshine?

From:

Sunny nods after a moment, head on Bernard's chest. She takes the sippy cup.

And immediately starts gnawing on it, quickly more or less ruining the lid.

That's something she hasn't done in quite a while.

From:

*Bernard heaves a sigh and puts a hand over hers on the handle.*

Try drinking some milk before you render the cup unusable, Sunny.

*It's worth noting that he doesn't bother stopping her from chewing entirely.*

From:

*Nymphadora curls her feet underneath her, resting her head on Bernard's shoulder. She's still chewing on her lip, as she looks down at Sunny.*

You don't have to go back to sleep just yet. We'll just be out here for a while.
