Feb. 1st, 2005 10:19 amShe woke up sobbing.
It didn't sink in, right away, that she wasn't in their bed, that the pillow beside hers was cold and vacant. Tonks squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block out the images -- the same they're the same he doesn't belong to me he never did it's just a matter of time he'll figure out that I'm the wrong one and he'll leave -- and reached for him.
But the hand that caught hers was small, and the voices around her female. She started shivering, and someone -- Val? -- wrapped a blanket around her shoulders. Someone else -- Snow? Door? -- held a glass of water to her lips, smoothed down her sweaty hair.
And then she remembered.
She didn't sleep any more that night.
