DAILY PROPHET EXCLUSIVE: MINISTRY AUROR CARRYING MYSTERIOUS MUGGLE’S CHILD by Locquatia Smythe-Smith

This week, Daily Prophet reporters uncovered the bizarre double-life of Ministry of Magic Auror Nymphadora Tonks, 24. Tonks, the youngest witch or wizard to date to be accepted into the ranks of the Aurors, is a specialist in wand cores and spell signatures, and has been heavily involved in the investigations surrounding the Death Eater attacks since the return of You-Know-Who.

But the wild colours sported by Tonks – a rare Metamorphmagus – tell a truer story of the woman on her off-hours – a woman embroiled in a heated affair with a mysterious stranger eyewitnesses call “the redheaded Muggle.”

Our source saw the Auror in the Muggle London neighborhood of Soho and our own Diagon Alley with an unidentified red-haired man as recently as four weeks ago. Tonks, who in the past has been linked to a dragon-handler Charlie Weasley and who has more recently been in the close company of fired Hogwarts' professor Remus Lupin, was seen strolling hand-in-hand with the stranger, often pausing to kiss or duck into shops and cafes. "'E en't no Weasley, tha's fer sure. Never saw 'im before in my life," reveals the Prophet’s source. "'E was dressed all in black, like a Death Ea'er, an exceptin' when 'e was lookin' at 'er, 'e looked dangerous." The two finished the day with an intimate dinner at a local Indian restaurant, and were last seen walking into a prominent London hotel. Her superior, Senior Auror Gerald Allbright, refused comment, citing the Ministry of Magic's privacy policy regarding the personal lives of its employees.

Although the traditional uniform robes that Aurors wear successfully concealed Miss Tonks's condition from the eyes of the public whilst on the job, her Muggle trousers, commonly called "denims," and improperly snug Muggle short-robe, commonly called a "tea-shirt," revealed an obvious, months-gone pregnancy. The young Auror engaged in shameless displays throughout Diagon Alley and Muggle London, prompting this reporter to query: What is our modern Wizarding law enforcement coming to, when the very people charged with our protection from You Know Who and his supporters are unable to exercise the bare minimum of self-control when it comes to the basic values we hold dear?

In the interest of the security of the Wizarding World in these troubled times, this newspaper demands an inquiry into the conduct of Auror Tonks, who has clearly broken the International Confederation of Warlocks' Statute of Secrecy regarding the presence of Muggles in our world, and who is likely compromising the work of her investigations by consorting with unsavoury characters who have no vested interest in the fate of wizards and witches here in Britain.

And, on a more personal note, this newspaper expresses dire concern over the clearly negative influence that this Muggle has had over one of the best and brightest of this promising young generation. Unwed motherhood may be rampant in the slums of Muggle London, but here in the Wizarding World, it is so rare that it has yet to even be labelled a societal ill. How unfortunate it is, that the harbinger of a new, sadder age in the modern world is not some pitiable French street urchin, but a talented rarity such as the only Metamorphmagus we have had the luck to see in over a century.

Attached to the article is a full-colour, moving photo of Nymphadora Tonks walking purposefully through Diagon Alley and stopping to look in a shop window, her hand resting against her six-months-pregnant belly. She's wearing the aforementioned "denims" and "tea-shirt," and her shoulder-length pink hair is pulled into two small braids. She looks remarkably happy and healthy, until she glances over and very clearly sees the camera. Her brow furrows, a spark of rage growing in her eyes, as she raises a hand to shield herself from the photographer. The picture is from the right side; her wedding ring is nowhere in sight.
