There is a long pause.

"I didn't mean it!" she calls to the fennel, which is probably feeling a bit ill-used.

He dissolves in giggles.

"It'll never be the same."

'Dora leans back against him, laughing too, one hand over her eyes.

"So." His arms squeeze tight. "Why are you rearranging the books?"

"Mum and Dad crated up some of my old books. Thought it'd be a good time to do a bit of clean-up in here."

Her hand smooths along his forearm, nails lightly scratching.

"...You know as soon as you leave I'll re-alphabetize them, right?"

She cranes her neck back.

That is one mournful look, right there.

He kisses it away.

"Shush."

"Maybe you'll like my system," she murmurs, turning around in his arms to kiss him properly. "You never know."

"Your systems tend to involve piles. Inherently problematic."

Another kiss. He presses her against the bookshelf, smiling.

"But the piles will, eventually, go back onto the bookshelves," she points out, hooking her thumbs through two of his beltloops.

"Haphazardly," kiss, "and in no," kiss, "particular order," kiss, kiss, "according to author, subject," kiss, "or title."

"I know you."

"Size is a perfectly valid mode of organisation," protests 'Dora, distracting him with a kiss of her own. "You've no sense of adventure, is all."

"Bullshit." A nip to her lip. "But when I set something on fire and can't remember what'll neutralize that particular combination of flammable chemicals, I'd like to be able to find my reference texts."

He smiles and leans forward, reasting his head on her shoulder.

Nymphadora takes a long breath and rubs his back.

"How're the babies?"

"Sunny is running around the bar in her jammies like a ragamuffin, and Anthony was blinking sleepily in his bassinette, and poking at his Piglet-doll curiously." A long sigh to match hers. "He's such a happy kid."

She kisses his neck lightly.

"Not a care in the world."

He pulls her closer, tenderly.

"Yes, well. You were tired."

Her arms twine around his neck, and she eyes the sofa consideringly.

"Mmm. Seems like I always am, these days."
