"If you're not careful, you bloody idiot, I am gonna call that nurse you hate," 'Dora threatens, tightening her grip on her husband's waist. "And then you'll be having another sponge bath, and I'm sure you won't be laughing then."

"Shut up," Bernard pants, taking another shaky step and leaning on her and his cane much more than he likes. "I want to go home. Can't go home till I'm mobile. So," another step, a slight grunt, "I'm gonna be mobile."

"Yeah, I know, and I want you mobile more than pretty much anything, but you're liable to hurt yourself more if you push too hard."

They're making slow, slow progress from the table to the bed.

He grits his teeth. "'M not. Pushing." Another step. "Too. Hard."

Halfway there.

For now, 'Dora shuts up, her mouth pressed into a thin line. She listens carefully to his breathing, and watches his movements like a hawk, waiting for the smallest sign of trouble.

Step. "Can hear you-- Fuck, this is hard-- disapproving from here." Step.

All the witch will say is "Hm," but her hand is steady at his waist.

She might not like it, but she'll still help.

Almost there... "Once I'm home--" Step, step, and he sits on the edge of the bed. "--I'll make you a pie."

Nymphadora lets out a long breath, and then ducks to kiss the top of his head.

"Or I could make you a pie, and you can take a nap."

"Only if it's apple," he breathes, resisting the urge to flop onto the bed bonelessly. "Apple's what you do best."

"Deal."

Sitting down next to him on the bed, she curls one arm protectively around Bernard's shoulders.

"Wanna lie down? I can help."

He considers it for a moment, sagging against her.

"Yep."

A kiss to his hairline. "Piece of cake." She stands again, and slowly helps him to ease down onto the bed. The cane she lays aside, thinking idly that it's probably not the best thing in the world that this is the second time he's needed one.

But he won't need it forever.

As he lies back on the pillows, he sighs heavily and snakes his arm around her waist. "Hey, baby. Come here often?"

"Daily," Nymphadora replies wryly, perching on the edge of the bed. "Starting to think of it as my extremely sterile home away from home."

"God, I know," he groans. "It's even cleaner than my kitchen!"

A pause.

"...My kitchen is still clean, right?"

"What?! It is!"

As opposed to Bernard-clean.

"That's it." He makes to get up again. "I'm coming home today."

"I have absolutely no qualms about putting you in a Full-Body Bind. None whatsoever."

And oh, look at that, her wand's already out.

He pauses, grinning suddenly. "Baby, you know I like it when you get rough."

"Yes, I'm well aware. Now relax."

With a sigh, she slumps a little and yawns, one hand idly smoothing over his leg.

He does, taking her hand. "You wanna lie down too, sweetheart?"

"Enh. 'M all right. Seems like I'm always falling alseep on you, and you're the one laid up."

Bernard smiles and lifts her hand to his lips. "Well. You're entitled. Been working hard, the last few years."
