Healer Durkin prods the floating sonogram image with his wand, and moves the transmitting stone just a hair so that the fetus comes into sharper focus.

Nymphadora blinks at the picture with wide, eager eyes.

"How does it look? Is it the proper size? Is that the head?"

"Charlotte."

She leans back in her chair and looks down at the bump that is their percolating daughter.

"What d'you think, sweet pea? Are you a Charlotte?"

If she was pregnant with Anthony, this would be the time that Nymphadora would jump and laugh from a particularly hard wiggle. Bernard finds himself waiting for it.

And waiting for it.

"...Kinda quiet, isn't she?"

"Yeah, she is," murmurs Nymphadora, rubbing her hand slowly over the swell. "She's more of a... roller, I guess, than a kicker. Different."

A little grin quirks his mouth. "Charlotte, huh?"

"'S rather lovely."

'Dora looks up, smiling softly at her husband.

"We'll roll it around for a bit. See if she feels like a Charlotte."

Bernard nods, then takes another bite of his gyros.

"Wha' 'f she doesn'?" he asks inadvisedly.

"...Then we shall call her Judith."

"...Why?"

"Because it's the first name that popped into my head just now?"

"Why don't we just name her after the squid?"

She perks up. "Ooooh. Julia! I kind of like that, actually."

"Fruitnugget?" he asks gamely.

"Tempting, but no."

"Okay." An eyebrow arches up. "Like to continue the family naming tradition in some way, though. Thought about middle names at all?"

"Hmm." Slowly, Nymphadora swallows the last bite of kebab and ponders this. "Kathleen would be pretty."

Bernard's eyes light up at that. "She would be so tickled."

Her smile widens. "Charlotte Kathleen." Then she laughs. "Lottie Kate."

A laugh surprises its way out of him. "That's a bit precious. Lottie?"

Nymphadora bats her eyelashes innocently. "Nothing is too precious for our precious little bundle of joy, Bernard." Then she snickers and socks him on the arm. "Also, I was joking."

He kicks her ankle under the table. "Well, one likes to be sure about these things. Otherwise one might accidentally agree to naming one's daughter Nymphadora Diphda or something similar."

"I'm expecting my mother to go on trial at the Hague any day now."

Reaching over to catch her hand in his, Bernard shoots her an unreadable look. "You know I like it."

"I do know." Leaning close, Nymphadora presses a soft kiss to his mouth. "And you know I don't feel the same way about it now as I did when we met." Another kiss. "But I reserve the right to tease myself and the woman who bore me."

"I know." He kisses her again, again, heedless of the scene they're making. "...Hey. It's almost summer, you know."

"Mm. I know it is. And?" Grinning, she leans her forehead against his temple.
